Dianne weaves in her studio at Pio Shores looking cross the Pacific Ocean to Mayor (Tuhua) Island. She loves the process of turning fibre into a functional and beautiful work of art.
She respects the traditional way of weaving but embraces new technology working on both an 8 shaft floor loom and a 16 shaft compu-dobby loom creating wraps, scarves, home textiles and lovely mohair blankets, all in a variety of yarns including wool, mohair, cotton and silk.
Dianne prefers to work with natural fibres and often includes beads and bright coloured dye work to complement the design. She will add man made fibres for the textural experience and visual excitement to further enhance a unique item. Recently Dianne has been awarded the Complex Weavers Award for excellence in weaving beyond plain weave. Also at the Creative Fibre Bay of Plenty Area Exhibition she received the Barbara Wilson Award for The Most Outstanding Weaving Entry and the Wairoa Trophy Award for The Best Individual Entry in the Exhibition.
Her weaving brings the subtlety of design and colour blending alive in new explorations of classical designs.
