Hannah Shand is an artist from the Kāpiti Coast who specialises in realistic animal drawings, with a passion for native New Zealand birds. She creates her art using fine-tip black ink pens, skilfully applying different pressures and techniques to carefully render the animals’ details. Her inspiration is drawn from the abundance of bird watching spots and bush walks both near her home studio and around the country; her favourites include the Waikanae River, Paraparaumu Scenic Reserve and Zealandia Ecosanctuary.
Using her art to showcase the beauty of NZ’s native flora and fauna, Hannah hopes to inspire others to care about our wildlife; she also actively works with conservation groups and bird sanctuaries to raise money and promote the great work they’re doing.
Hannah creates A4 to A1 sized originals, prints and commissioned drawings of native birds and wildlife. Her limited edition fine art prints are produced in Wellington using the highest quality archival paper and inks.
